   1我曾說：「我要謹慎我的行為，不讓我的舌頭犯罪；惡人在我面前的時候，我總要用罩子約束我的嘴。」



   2我靜默不出聲，甚至連好話也不說（「甚至連好話也不說」或譯：「我安靜也得不到安慰」），我的痛苦就更加劇烈。



   3我的心在我裡面發熱；我默想的時候，心裡火燒；我就用舌頭說話：



   4「耶和華啊！求你使我知道我的結局，我的壽數有多少，使我知道我的生命多麼短促。



   5你使我的日子窄如手掌，我的一生在你面前如同無有；各人站得最穩的時候，也只不過是一口氣。（細拉）



   6世人來來往往只是幻影，他們忙亂也是虛空；積聚財物，卻不知道誰要來收取。



   7主啊！現在我還等候甚麼呢？我的指望在乎你。



   8求你救我脫離我的一切過犯，不要使我遭受愚頑人的羞辱。



   9因為是你作了這事，我就靜默不開口。



   10求你除掉你降在我身上的災禍；因你手的責打，我就消滅。

   For the director of music. For Jeduthun. A psalm of David.



   1I said, “I will watch my ways



   and keep my tongue from sin;



   I will put a muzzle on my mouth



   while in the presence of the wicked.”



   2So I remained utterly silent,



   not even saying anything good.



   But my anguish increased;



   3my heart grew hot within me.



   While I meditated, the fire burned;



   then I spoke with my tongue:



   4“Show me, Lord, my life’s end



   and the number of my days;



   let me know how fleeting my life is.



   5You have made my days a mere handbreadth;



   the span of my years is as nothing before you.



   Everyone is but a breath,



   even those who seem secure. b



   6“Surely everyone goes around like a mere phantom;



   in vain they rush about, heaping up wealth



   without knowing whose it will finally be.



   7“But now, Lord, what do I look for?



   My hope is in you.



   8Save me from all my transgressions;



   do not make me the scorn of fools.



   9I was silent; I would not open my mouth,



   for you are the one who has done this.



   10Remove your scourge from me;



   I am overcome by the blow of your hand.



   11When you rebuke and discipline anyone for their sin,



   you consume their wealth like a moth—



   surely everyone is but a breath.
