彼得前書 4 :1基督既然在肉身受過苦，你們也應當以同樣的心志裝備自己（因為在肉身受過苦的，就已經與罪斷絕了）， 2好叫你們不再隨從人的私慾，只順從 神的旨意，在世上度餘下的光陰。 3因為你們過去隨從教外人的心意，行邪淫、私慾、醉酒、荒宴、狂飲和可憎拜偶像的事，時候已經夠了。 1 Peter 4:1Therefore, since Christ suffered in his body, arm yourselves also with the same attitude, because whoever suffers in the body is done with sin. 2As a result, they do not live the rest of their earthly lives for evil human desires, but rather for the will of God. 3For you have spent enough time in the past doing what pagans choose to do—living in debauchery, lust, drunkenness, orgies, carousing and detestable idolatry. 1 Peter 4:1 Χριστοῦ οὖν παθόντος σαρκὶ καὶ ὑμεῖς τὴν αὐτὴν ἔννοιαν ὁπλίσασθε, ὅτι ὁ παθὼν σαρκὶ πέπαυται ἁμαρτίας, 2 εἰς τὸ μηκέτι ἀνθρώπων ἐπιθυμίαις ἀλλὰ θελήματι Θεοῦ τὸν ἐπίλοιπον ἐν σαρκὶ βιῶσαι χρόνον. 3 ἀρκετὸς γὰρ ὁ παρεληλυθὼς χρόνος τὸ βούλημα τῶν ἐθνῶν κατειργάσθαι, πεπορευμένους ἐν ἀσελγείαις, ἐπιθυμίαις, οἰνοφλυγίαις, κώμοις, πότοις, καὶ ἀθεμίτοις εἰδωλολατρίαις*. 1 PET 4 :1 Jadi, karena Kristus telah menderita penderitaan badani, kamupun harus juga mempersenjatai dirimu dengan pikiran yang demikian, --karena barangsiapa telah menderita penderitaan badani, ia telah berhenti berbuat dosa--, 2 supaya waktu yang sisa jangan kamu pergunakan menurut keinginan manusia, tetapi menurut kehendak Allah. 3 Sebab telah cukup banyak waktu kamu pergunakan untuk melakukan kehendak orang-orang yang tidak mengenal Allah. Kamu telah hidup dalam rupa-rupa hawa nafsu, keinginan, kemabukan, pesta pora, perjamuan minum dan penyembahan berhala yang terlarang.
